I’ve been reading through this shit, just emitting the most delightful LOLs.
Is this some of that “I’m an atheist, I’m so much smarter than believers” bullshit?
Because first of all, it’s kind of ironic that people who call themselves “skeptics” act so fucking holier-than-thou just because some people are trying to find meaning and joy in an endlessly soul-crushingly evil world owned by the wealthy and the cruel.
Look, y’all, I’m not by any means a religious person. I have no interest in most institutionally-recognized ideas of God.
That said, the Bible is not only full of beautiful stories, often funny and fucked up and bizarre (the time the bald prophet made a bear eat those kids, the time some tiny bro with a slingshot busted up a giant, the time the whole world got flooded and was born anew because everyone turned into dicks), but the New Testament in particular is a radically leftist text. It’s weird that atheists, people who often consider themselves progressive in lots of ways, hate it so much.
Who believes wholly in the literal truth of every word contained within?
Not Biblical scholars. Not anyone but fundamentalists and those people are conservative in all their beliefs so they’re evil anyway.
And at least they think they’re trying to get sinners to Heaven. What are militant atheists trying to do? Blot out the only light in someone’s life?
I’m not a Christian. I’m not Jewish, though I identify with the culture’s neuroses and dark sense of humor. I’m not Muslim, either. I have no stakes in Abrahamic religion beyond the fact I think it’s culturally enriching.
I just think it’s fucking gross that people think it’s funny and cool to degrade people just like them, fellow truth-seekers who have taken a different tack on what life means or is worth.
I know people do horrible things in the name of religion. Those people don’t understand it. They take for granted that they’re human and forget their duties to each other over their duties to dogma.
That’s not what the God of the Bible asks for. The God of the Bible wants you to be a good person first. And I don’t think tearing that down with stupid little logical inconsistencies in a book written by thousands of people over as many years is moral, whether you’re a secular humanist or the other kind.
What Andrew said. It’s good to be critical and all, but telling someone everything they put meaning and value into is utter bullshit and pointless etc is probably the most asshole verbal thing you could do

plus I read every single book I was even there for the midnight release of Breaking Dawn
true story from high school.
they are pretty compelling if you let yourself get sucked into the story

but nice fun reading and I didn’t hate breaking dawn when I read it

haha! I’m really disappointed they didn’t keep Flipendo in the later games/introduce them in the books. Although it’s basically a baby version of Rictusempra or Stupefy

none of them are spoilery! (insofar as they don’t spoil books past their respective equivalent)
- Chamber of Secrets is my best because it’s easy controls + good plot stuff + LOTS OF SECRETS
- I like prisoner of azkaban since it’s more advanced graphics/gameplay-wise but structurally the game is arranged very similarly to CoS
- Sorcerer’s Stone is okay but a lot of the controls are kind of not intuitive.
- Goblet of fire is a piece of shit as far as Harry Potter-ness is concerned. Most of it is wandering forests/roof tops killing skrewts and ugh.
